site visits :Houses of Goa
IDEA encourages site visits for on site learning. One such visit was arranged to
"Houses of Goa", a unique museum by reputed architect Gerard da Cunha, which encapsulates for posterity the phenomenal outcome of the amalgamation of eastern and western architectural styles. "Located at the centre of three intersecting roads, in Torda, Salvador Mundo, Bardez, lays the fascinating structure of the museum, “Houses of Goa”. This unique plot has given rise to an even more unique structure.

Before entering the museum, we were required to take off our shoes.
Inside the museum there consisted of three floors which were connected by a central spiral staircase.
The first floor welcomed us with a computer which gave us a virtual tour of the entire place. With light Konkani and jazz music at the background, the floor covered the theoretical description of the evolution of the Goan houses, a pictorial journey of the world of architecture from pre-history to the present era and many interesting facts on goa.
The 2nd floor consisted of an intriguing collection of artifacts.
The 3rd and the topmost floor has a casual, semi-circular, cushioned seating arrangement. This is where the architect Gerard da Cunha gave a brief history of Goa." - A Student
